Bakgrund
” Carl-Henry Piel, Göteborg-Stockholm Rowing tour 23 nd june-7th july2016 He is an avid coastal rower, and the American son of a strong Swedish woman,. Over the last few years, he have been rowing and competing in a number of events in the Gulf of Maine, Cape Ann in Massachusetts and Long Island Sound, and training on the Great Bay near his home in Durham, New Hampshire.
After he have had visited Sweden several times over the years, most recently 2 years ago to taking his elderly mother back to visit her siblings in Malmö and Borensberg. On that trip, driving along Vättern and parts of the Göta Canal, he conceived the idea of rowing across Sweden, connecting the “Crown Cities” of Malmö, Göteborg, and Stockholm, a distance of some 1000 km. The general plan would be to row an average of 50 km per day of two weeks, starting in late May to take advantage of the long hours of day-light, and before too many of our countrymen get into their boats on the canal.”
